So it’s been some time since I’ve written, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been watching, wanting, and obsessing. I bought a mini tee from American Apparel a few weeks ago–the loose crop top tee in creme–and have had no time or occasion to wear it, so I’m basically wearing it vicariously through Kate Bosworth. Her must have look is cropped top perfection, worn atop a fitted tank and paired with a vintage inspired camel messenger. For those of you who don’t plan on layering, beware. Last weekend I witnessed the bellybutton-exposing crop top first hand, and it was not a pretty sight, unless endless crunches are on your workout repertoire or you’re actually Kate Bosworth a la Blue Crush.

But day after day, while I’ve been a naughty writer, I’ve passed by this little guy:

The Seneca Rising Jocylin tee is like Coachella translated to cotton. The full version of this half shirt was worn by Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester in 2009, slightly off the shoulder and atop a white beater-esque tank. It’s light and airy, loose and in shades more refreshing than a tub of rainbow sherbet. With colors taken straight from nature and a style from Dazed and Confused, the cropped top in a subtle tie dye print is a must have that makes me think of…

I love NYC in spring.

At the end of the day, when the sun has gone down on The Hills, there is very little to love about the Pratt family tree. Even if her brother has become one of the more scoffed at celebrity faces on the D list, Stephanie Pratt at least has a sense of style going for her, and it comes in the form of a small investment that yields serious returns. The Black Orchid denim vest with pyramid stud details and leather embellishments adds a bit of must have edge to a simple white tee / black bag combination. And though I don’t think the exaggerated necklace is a necessary accessory, it at least looks less gluttonous than the way she double-fists those two Starbucks lattes. I wonder who it’s for.

We’re talking tees. It’s Friday night in less than twelve hours and you have absolutely nothing to wear. At least nothing to wear that you feel like wearing or that the crew you’re hanging with hasn’t seen before. (Like anyone remembers, anyway.) Look no further than the Jay Godfrey jersey tank dress, which Carrie Underwood wore to the Creative Artists Agency Super Bowl party.

Ok, so the front zipper is borderline Julia Roberts circa Pretty Woman, but the overall look of the Jay Godfrey tight tank with two tier skirt is anything but street-worthy. Flouncy ruffles on a Friday night? If Julia Roberts could snatch her prince charming when the sun was still out, then this one is in the bag. Though, last time I checked, Carrie Underwood already has her prince in tow.

It’s featured at Free People, it’s worn by Alessandra Ambrosio, and it’s the epitome of boho-beauty–perhaps even surpassing yesterday’s shout out to the Gypsy ’05 Talya maxi. The only possible way that you could make the new Aurore Ruffle Tee from Seneca Rising even more lackadaisical would be if it were on Vanessa Hudgens herself, although Alessandra Ambrosio takes a close second, carrying the silver medal when it comes to oversized tees, jean cut-offs, and it’s-perfect-because-I-slept-on-it-wet hair. Whether laying in a city park or sneaking off to a much anticipated summer music festival, the loose fitting Seneca Rising tee is one that will flutter the masses. I mean, fluster.

As the reigning star of the latest blockbuster hit, Avatar, Zoe Saldana, swiftly rose to the top of the Hollywood hierarchy to emerge as a powerful female actress, role model, and fashion icon nearly overnight. Fashion and film are natural partners in crime. The 2010 Golden Globes have come and gone, but in the world of costume design right now, there happens to be two frontrunners vying for best in show—each film with significant manifestations of and, likewise, influential capabilities in fashion. But what Tom Ford’s career fulfilling feature, A Single Man, achieves in its wardrobe, it lacks in reputation. Ford’s directorship in the film is itself highly reputable, but the legendary designer falls short by four: Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda, and Carrie. They are and will always be female fashion icons to be reckoned with.

The countdown to Sex and the City 2 has begun. Actually, it started when Sex and the City one rolled credits. Before it hits the silver screen, catch a sneak peak of the dresses Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda, and Carrie wear—must have styles that spans the eras, from Carrie’s flashback to 70s and 80s glam to Samantha’s risqué cutout 90s LBD. And of course, Charlotte is back, and she’s even preppy-er in pink. Some things never change; but in this case, keep the color but lose the silhouette, which ages her about fifty years.
